Coast road driving

GT and sports car rental Costa Brava coast road

This is the road grand tourers were built for: cliff-edge corners from Palamós to Lloret, and a sports car hire Costa Brava drivers choose for exactly this stretch.

The coast road

South from Girona, the coast road narrows into a sequence of hairpins and headland straights linking Palamós, Begur, Calella de Palafrugell, Tossa and Lloret. The GI-682 section between Palamós and Lloret is Camino de Ronda in metalled form — cliff-edge curves, short sightlines, and surface changes at every village boundary. It rewards a car with precise steering and strong brakes more than outright top speed.

Grand tourers from the Uacm fleet are built for exactly this kind of road. A Porsche 911 or Ferrari Roma carries the weight transfer of a tight switchback without drama, while a Bentley Continental GT or Aston Martin keeps composure over the broken tarmac near Tossa, where the gradient shifts within a few hundred metres.

Driving the stretch well means knowing where to slow before a hidden crest and where a passing bay opens onto the sea. The next two pages set that out in full: one covers Palamós, Begur and Calella de Palafrugell town by town, the other lays out a complete Costa Brava driving itinerary for sports cars, with suggested stops and timings.

Open-top driving

Convertible rental Costa Brava bookings run through the same on-request fleet, with classic convertibles available for wedding parties who want the hood down between venues in Begur or Calella de Palafrugell. The GI-682 coast road drive Tossa stretch suits an open car in spring and autumn, when temperatures sit below the summer peak and traffic through the village centres is lighter.
